Christopher James Hisey – Music Director
Co-founder of the American Chamber Orchestra, Christopher James Hisey has conducted throughout the United States and in Europe. He is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he studied conducting with Donald Hunsberger and David Efron, and Bowling Green University, where he completed his Masters Degree in Conducting under Emily Freeman Brown. Mr. Hisey made his international debut with the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra in January of 2001. He returned to Bulgaria to conduct the Pleven Philharmonic Orchestra in January of 2002, and was immediately engaged for March of 2002 and the American Music Festival in Sofia at the end of 2003. He has also appeared with the St. Petersburg Klassika Symphony, formerly the Leningrad State Philharmonic. Among his current engagements, Mr. Hisey is Music Director of the Civic Orchestra of New Haven, the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra and the 2008 Troupers Light Opera production of Yeoman of the Guard, in addition to serving on the strings faculties of Greens Farms Academy and the Westport School of Music.
