Music Director and Conductor Christopher Hisey has conducted throughout the United States, Europe and in Mexico. He has made appearances with the St. Petersburg “Klassika” Symphony, formerly the Leningrad State Philharmonic in Russia, The Ruse Philharmonic and Pleven Philharmonic in Bulgaria, and conducted concert tours through Italy, Spain, Scotland, Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
In addition to his duties with the American Chamber Orchestra, Mr. Hisey is the former Music Director and Conductor of the Civic Orchestra of New Haven which has been in existence for more than 70 years. Mr. Hisey was only the third person to be named to this position.
Mr. Hisey also serves as one of the assistant conductors for the Greater Bridgeport Symphony and, as such, was called upon - with three days notice - to step in for their Music Director Gustav Meier last spring. Mr Hisey was immediately rebooked to conduct their Holiday Pops concert in December 2012.
Mr. Hisey is a highly respected and sought-after music educator and consequently serves as the Music Director and conductor of
the Principal Orchestra of the Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras. Made up of five ensembles, the GBYO serves 250 young musicians from 27 towns around the state of Connecticut and just celebrated 50 years of great music and service to the community.
Mr. Hisey also serves on the string faculty of Greens Farms Academy in Westport,and has served as Adjunct Professor of Conducting and Music Director at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, and Fairfield University. He has also served as Music Director of the Connecticut Valley Chamber Orchestra and the Troupers Light Opera Company.
Mr. Hisey lives in Bridgeport, CT, with his wife Heather, and 4 children: Lauren, Alex, Grace and James.
